Education Qardan Hasana Application
Qardan Hasana may be provided for higher education, for specialization and advanced training in professional fields, for technical and vocational training, as per Raza Mubarak granted by Aqa Maula TUS.
To ensure your application is processed as quickly and efficiently as possible, please submit all documents in accordance with the requirements outlined below.
Incomplete submissions may result in delays or withdrawal of your application. Please note that, in some cases, our underwriting team may request additional information.
EDUCATION QARDAN HASANA DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
Please ensure you upload the correct supporting documents based on the amount of Qardan Hasana you’re applying for:
Small Qardan (up to £25,000) – Required Documents:
- 3 months bank statements
- 3 months payslips
- If self-employed; previous year’s trading accounts and SA302 tax returns
Medium Qardan (£25,001 – £75,000) – Required Documents:
- 6 months bank statements
- 6 months payslips
- If self-employed; previous two years’ trading accounts and SA302 tax returns
Large Qardan (above £75,000) – Required Documents:
- 12 months bank statements
- 12 months payslips
- If self-employed; previous three years’ trading accounts and SA302 tax returns
- Accountant’s statement regarding current year
You will also need to provide the following:
- Safai Chitti: You must provide your Safai Chitti obtained specifically for the purpose of Qardan Hasana. You can contact your Amilsaheb / Jamaa’t to obtain it.
- Two Sponsors: Two sponsors are required for your application. Sponsors must be members of the Dawoodi Bohra community in the UK and known to the Foundation.
- Jewellery as Rehen: Jewellery worth at least one-third of the value of the requested Qardan Hasana is required as rehn.
- Covering Letter: Please provide a brief covering letter summarising your application, including the purpose, amount requested, and repayment plan. Kindly ensure it demonstrates your ability to meet repayments responsibly.
- Supporting documents: You must provide supporting evidence related to the purpose for which you are applying for Qardan Hasana.
- Details of the course you are applying for: University/College offer letter, certificate of enrolment and the course fees.
- A Raza Mubarak letter which can be obtained through Talabulilm website. Visit the website, click on “Education Raza,” and submit your application. If your Raza is approved, you will receive a downloadable PDF of the Raza Mubarak letter. This letter must be included with your application.
- Budget, including but not limited to:
- Course fees
- Accommodation costs, if applicable
- Confirmation that you will not apply for an interest-bearing student loan.

Q. Why Should I Not Take a Loan from the Student Loan Company?
A. Loans from the Student Loan Company accrue interest immediately upon receipt of funds and are haraam.
Q. Who Is Eligible to Apply?
A. UK Residents either British Nationals or those with indefinite leave to enter or remain (settled status) are eligible to apply for Student Qardan Hasana under this scheme. International students on temporary visas without settled or pre settled status should contact us at info@bqhs.org.uk / support@bqhs.org.uk for further information.

Q. When should I Apply?
A. Applications for Qardan Hasana for students starting in September are open from the preceding March. So, applications for September 2026 entry can be submitted from March 2026 onwards. Please feel free to contact us in advance to help you prepare for your application.
Q. Who should Apply?
A. Applications must be submitted by the parents/guardians in their own name, on behalf of the student. Where the student is already earning and wishes for their income to be taken into account towards repayment, the student may also be considered as a joint applicant.
Any individual (student/parents/guardians) whose income is intended to be relied upon for repayment should be included as an applicant.
Q. What does the Student Qardan Hasana scheme cover?
A. The scheme covers tuition fees and maintenance costs for all eligible students. Your Qardan Hasana approval will cover the entire course, but funds will be disbursed annually.
Q. How long is the repayment period?
A. Each case will be considered based on its individual circumstances and the results of affordability checks. However, we encourage mumineen to repay as soon as possible so that all mumineen who need Qardan Hasana can benefit from it and receive the barakat associated with Qardan Hasana. We will also make every effort to accommodate mumineen who require an extended repayment period, in accordance with the regulations.
You may apply for Qardan Hasana amount for the full course duration. While the total amount may be approved, disbursements will be made annually. To secure your annual Qardan Hasana disbursement for the subsequent years, please share the previous year’s educational progress (results) and your fees for this year.
